The All-Ukrainian Non-Governmental Organization Ukrainian Association Valeologists is established on July 25, 2000. The President of the Association is Professor Mariia Honcharenko, a distinguished scholar, Doctor of Sciences in Biology.
According to the Association Charter, the main task of the organization, which now includes 19 regional centers, is to coordinate actions of the primary field-specific subdivisions and integrate the activity directed at physical, mental, spiritual and social rehabilitation of an individual and the Ukrainian nation as a whole.
The Association annually organizes international research-to-practice conferences, each time broadening their geography, with 160 scholars participating in the last International Research-to-Practice Conference “Valeology, Current State, Directions and Prospects of Development” (65 of them coming from other cities of Ukraine and abroad, and delegates from 8 countries: Poland, Bulgaria, Romania, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Latvia, Russia, Belarus). All in all, the conference materials have been published in 24 scientific compendia.
Social projects of Kharkiv Center of the Ukrainian Association of Valeologists have won three victories in the competition of the City Council and received grants for health improvement of disadvantaged social groups. In 2004, the Association is awarded a Diploma of the City Council Main Department of Humanitarian and Social Affairs.
