YULIYA BIDENKO
PhD in Political Science, MA in Sociology. Associate Professor of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University Political Science Department since 2012.
2017-2019 – a postdoctoral fellow at V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University;
2018 - Research Fellow for Civil Society Studies Department of Charles University, Prague supported by Prague Civil Society Centre;
2012-2013 - Individual Research Fellow for the Center for Advanced Studies and Education in European Humanities University (Vilnius, Lithuania).
Dr. Bidenko is an alumna of the European Union Visitors Program (2018), the Aspen Institute-Kyiv International Seminars Program (2019), Ukrainian School of Political Studies, Council of Europe (2014), participant of the Third World Forum for Democracy (Strasbourg, France), academic Summer Schools for post-Soviet Researchers and Teachers Excellence Program, Temple University of Philadelphia and Carnegie Corporation (2010-2013), Summer Institute on Civic Studies, University of Maryland and Tufts University (2017, 2019), and International School of Economics, Tbilisi State University (2017).

Dr. Bidenko regularly cooperates as a policy expert, a political analyst with local, national and foreign media and analytical centers, such as Alliance for Democracies, Belgium; Inmedio, Berlin; PONARS-Eurasia, Washington DC; Prague Civil Society Centre, Prague; Caucasian House, Tbilisi; New Europe Centre, Democratic Initiatives Foundation, Kyiv, and Observatory of Democracy, Kharkiv. She is co-founder and Head of the Kharkiv NGO “Liberal Club,” a member of the Board of Kharkiv regional NGO “Slobozhanshchyna Political Science Association,” member of the International Association for the Humanities.
As a trainer for civic education projects for youth, women, civic activists, and electoral commissions’ members, she co-works with Ukrainian and international NGOs (OSCE, OPORA-Ukraine, Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, Hans Seidel Foundation, European Endowment for Democracy, SIDA, NED, IFES-Ukraine). Since 2016 Dr. Bidenko is the expert for the Initiative ‘Team Europe” at European Union Delegation to Ukraine https://euukrainecoop.com/2016/02/27/team-europe/
In 2020, she became a certified trainer of the International Foundation of Electoral Systems in teaching course
“Democracy from Theory to Practice”..
Dr. Bidenko was a speaker and a panelist for more than 50 conferences, seminars, panel discussions, and round tables in Ukraine, Czech Republic, Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Georgia, Belarus, and Moldova. She has published academic articles and papers devoted to the problem of elections, civil society, democratic institutions and reforms in Ukraine, ideology, and political regimes’ changes.
